Hey guys welcome back to @cabaretedotcom
Today we would like to share with you this super cool experience that you could easily plan during your stay in our beautiful Cabarete: Monkey Jungle.
Monkey Jungle has two venues for your enjoyment. A 4,500 foot, 7 station ACCT certified zip line and an ancient 5 acre grotto with over 20+ squirrel and capuchin monkeys.
We took the day to film this unforgettable experience with local Suami Cavallo and show you a bit of the nature and surroundings as Suami was enjoying her first zip-line adventure tour.
Monkey Jungle was inspired by the Haitian and Dominican Assistance Corporation (HADAC) which was formed in 2008 by Chuck and Candy Ritzen. Chuck & Candy were two entrepreneurs from Nashville, Tennessee who dedicated their lives to improving the lives of those around them. The creation of the Leon/Laroche Medical Clinic; a free clinic for Dominicans and Haitians was built and named after two great Haitian friends, Bernie Leon and Maurice Laroche.
On October 17, 2016, following the devastation left behind by Hurricane Matthew, Chuck & Candy flew medical supplies, tarps and food to the people of Haiti. Upon returning to Puerto Plata their single engine sea plane was caught in a storm, and they were lost to the sea.
Their dream continues thanks to Candy’s mom who now owns the business and the support of the dedicated volunteers, the visiting doctors and friends. Profits from the tourist activities, bar, gift store sales and donations are deposited into HADAC, a 501c3 and registered Dominican NGO. These proceeds go to fund medical and dental care, medicines, food programs, vocational training and educational programs, who will help these underserved people without charge to them of any kind.
This beautiful place is just a 30 min drive from the center of Cabarete, just a couple of miles past famous residential Casa Linda.
As soon as you walk in Monkey jungle you will meet Rob who is now looking after the business and making sure everything is under control. The tour starts with Rob explaining a bit of the place’s background story and it usually starts with visiting 20+ squirrel and capuchin monkeys.
In our vlog, we started with the zip-line tour since we joined another group, but like I said usually the experience starts with visiting the little monkeys. You will be able to feed the monkeys sunflower seeds and papaya while they are all over you and you can hang out with them for as long as you would like and take your pictures with them.
This zip-line is certified and very safe. They will make sure you are completely protected with a helmet & some more zip line gear.
There are 7 ziplines and the tour ends with a special surprise. The guides, who have done this for many years now, will show you exactly how to do this especially if you are a first timer.
The feeling is amazing, and as you zipline you will enjoy beautiful views and nature overall.
Regarding the surprise, you will see for yourself and enjoy it to the max, as much as Suami did!
Once you are done with the zip-line there will be a car waiting at the end who will then take you back to the main spot.
As soon as you get back you can either have a drink or snack at the bar, or buy some merchandise!
Monkey Jungle is a must visit if you pass by the North Coast, perfect for families, couples, or even just a group friends experience.
